A lot of people are often confused about the instructions that appear on IELTS Reading/Listening tests.  Here is an example:

Question 12-13.
Answer the questions below.
Choose NO MORE THAN THREE WORDS AND/OR A NUMBER from the passage for each answer.

Incorrect

12 per cent (1 number, 2 words)

12 percent (1 word, 1 number)

twelve per cent (3 words)

twelve percent (2 words)

12 persentage (wrong spelling)

12 precent (wrong spelling)

12 per cent natural fish (4 words, 1 number)
