Are you allowed to work in the USA on an F-1 Visa?

Many students are worried about having enough money to live in the United States if they go on a student visa (also known as an F-1 Visa).

In most cases, students are allowed to work in the United States, but there are conditions. A student can work up to 20 hours a week during the semester, and 40 hours a week during school breaks. Most students apply for jobs at the university where they are studying, so that they do not have transportation costs.

Also remember that the minimum wage in the United States is $7.25 per hour. If a student works 20 hours a week for 4 weeks, that only equals $580 per month. This is typically not enough to pay for expenses such as rent, food, books, and any clothes or medical expenses.

So, be aware that you can work in the United States if you are student but the pay is relatively low.
