TOEFL Speaking test - section 1

In this section, you will have 15 seconds to prepare a topic and 45 seconds to speak about the topic. The topic is usually a personal question. You may make a few notes (keywords) if you wish.

Topic: What is an important national holiday in your country?

In France, an important national holiday is the 1st of May, a day when people don't work and celebrate unions and work. This holiday is the same in many countries in Europe. On May 1st there are many parades and people think about the advances that unions and organized labor have made over the years. These advances include stopping child labor in factories and helping women to play a larger role in the work force. I remember going to see parades when I was young and as a university student marching in parades with other people from the student union.
