IELTS Writing: Is ALL CAPS allowed?

Students wonder if it's okay to write their Task 1 and Task 2 answer in ALL CAPS (all capital letters).

As unbelievable as this may seem, the answer is YES. You are allowed to write your Task 1 and Task 2 answers in ALL CAPS.

For the record, we do not recommend writing in all caps because this is not correct English punctuation. We recommend you get used to writing with full stops and capital letters however, according to IELTS, the 'official position' is that you can write in all caps.

One of the ideas put forward by IELTS is that if your handwriting is poor, writing in all caps may help the examiner to understand what you write.
