Students often ask, how long does the TOEIC test last?
The official test is divided into two parts:
Listening 45 minutes
Reading 75 minutes
There is no break between the two sections.
But, every candidate needs to arrive before the test in order to present his or her identification and to fill out a questionnaire on the test form, such as name, date of birth, country of origin, native language, etc. Some testing centers require candidates to arrive 30 minutes before the exam, others an hour before the exam.
You are not allowed to have anything at your seat except for a pencil and an eraser. No telephone, so wear a watch in order to know the time; no water bottles; no paper of any kind. Many testing centres require you to leave all of your bags in a specific area and turn off your telephone before the exam. If you need to go to the bathroom a test monitor can take you, but this time is lost.
After the exam, the test monitors will immediately collect the test papers, but you will not be able to leave until you have signed a paper indicating your presence and had your identification checked again. This can take time too, depending on the number of candidates present and the number of exam monitors.
So you need to schedule at least three, possibly even four hours at the testing centre for the two hour TOEIC test.
