Decision-making is a tiring activity for our brains. We are constantly making choices. Conscious choices include what clothes to wear (does this shirt match these jeans? for example), what food to eat, even to the point of deciding whether we will finish our sentence or go to the bathroom. All of these decisions fatigue our brains, and are one reason why we need to get a good night's sleep every night. A lack of sleep causes our decision-making processes to be less efficient - and we make bad decisions.
