Here are some past IELTS Task 2 Writing Topics.  Could you write 250 words in 40 minutes?

As mass communications and transport continue to grow, societies are becoming more and more alike, leading to a phenomenon known as globalisation. Some people fear that globalisation will inevitably lead to the total loss of cultural identity. 

To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement?

Whilst studying abroad provides an opportunity to broaden one’s life experience, it also presents the danger of negative influences from the host culture.

Many countries aim to improve their standard of living through economic development.  Sometimes this may bring loss of social values as a result.  

Do the advantages of higher standard of living outweigh its disadvantages?  


It has been said that the world is becoming a global village in which there are no boundaries to trade and communication. 

Do the benefits of globalisation outweigh the drawbacks?


Differences between countries become less evident each year. Nowadays, all over the world people share almost the same things.
