According to a study done by Gail Matthews at Dominican University, those who wrote down their goals accomplished significantly more than those who did not write down their goals.

Here's a key for test success: Write down your IELTS, TOEFL or TOEIC goals.

Write your goal(s) on a piece of paper a stick it on the fridge or above your desk or some other place where you will see it.

Doing this helps you to visualise your goal and reminds you to stay on track.

Here's a sample goal entry:

I will achieve an overall Band Score of 7.0 in my IELTS test within two months.

I will score 7.0 in Listening, 7.0 in Speaking, 7.0 in Writing and 7.0 in Reading.

To do this I will:

  • Read English for at least 2 hours/day
  • make a connection with someone who is much better than me at English and speak with him/her 2-3 times/week
  • write an English essay each day
  • listen to English for 1 hour on the radio/internet

Plan for and achieve success!
