Cambridge Writing Task 2
In this task, you have to write 140 - 190 words as either an answer to an email, an article based on a given title, or a report with suggestions on how to write it.This example is a structured report.
You are doing a unit in class about reducing your impact on the environment.
In your report, you should:
- talk about housing
- talk about recycling
- talk about buying

Global warming is causing problems all around the world. There are some things that we can do in order to reduce our impact on the environment.
First, many people in the developed world have housing that is too large for them. In the United States and Canada, for example, people have houses that have rooms they never use. Yet they still need to heat and to cool these rooms. People can choose to live in smaller houses or apartments instead of having a lot of wasted space.
Recycling is much easier today. We can recycle paper, metal, and plastics. We just need to make an effort to put objects that can be recycled in the proper place.
When we buy something, we can check to see if it is made locally, for food, as an example. We can buy products that are guaranteed for a long time, or even for life, so that we do not have to replace them. We can learn to upgrade products (like our technology) and fix small problems instead of throwing things away.
In this way we will be doing our part for the environment.
